Australia's national general aviation fly-in, Ausfly, has been rebranded as OzKosh.

The event is a gathering of all sectors of general aviation and in held annually at Narromine in NSW, under the management of the Sport Aircraft Association of Australia (SAAA).

According to the SAAA's Neil Unger, the event was rebranded because more groups were involved that just the SAAA.

"The reason for the name change is that it is no longer an SAAA event," Unger said. "It is a combination of all GA groups in one big fly-in. All are involved which is possibly a first.

"Therefore we had to pick a new name that got away from Ausfly or Natfly, as even though these two groups are involved, so are about seven others."

The name OzKosh was also used for air shows run at Ballarat Airport in 2000-2001.

OzKosh 2016 will run over the weekend of 8-9 October.
