Aeria Management Group (AMG), operator of both Bankstown and Camden airports, this week appointed Tom Smith as Chief Executive Officer following the resignation of Daniel Jarosch.

Smith has been in the role of Chief Operating Officer for two years and previously held senior management positions at Qantas and asset management company Dexus.

AMG Chairman Peter Achterstraat highlighted Smith's extensive experience and expertise across the property and aviation sectors.

“Since joining AMG in 2022, Tom has driven the enhancement of facilities and infrastructure at Aeria (Bankstown) and Camden Airport and the delivery of multiple new commercial initiatives for the aviation and non-aviation sectors,” Achterstraat said.

“Under his leadership, AMG will continue to maximise opportunities for investment, partnerships and long-term growth, including the proposed major new aviation hangar project and new retail, community and commercial centre at Aeria.”

Smith said that he was proud to be taking the CEO role at Aeria.

"Aeria Precinct and Camden Airport play a critical role in providing essential services and driving economic and employment growth,” he said.

“I am proud to lead a company whose customers contribute so much to the people and businesses of metropolitan and regional NSW, across crucial general aviation services and sectors such as retail, manufacturing, distribution and logistics.”

Smith has already headed several major projects at AMG, including the successful completion in 2024 of Stage 1 of the aviation pavements upgrade at Bankstown, and the carpark upgrade and stormwater infrastructure at Camden.

Achterstraat thanked outgoing CEO Daniel Jarosch for his contribution to AMG over the past nine years, including the past four years as CEO.

“Daniel’s passion, vision and dedication have built a strong team and robust foundation for continued success for our customers and community,” he said. “He has played a pivotal role in shaping the success of AMG and the transformation of our airport precincts.”

Smith starts as CEO on 12 August.
