Italian manufacturer Blackshape has appointed Tooradin-based Precision Light and Air as Australian and New Zealand agent.
Blackshape makes the BK100 Prime tandem recreational and has a two-seat GA aeroplane under development.
Angelo Petrosillo, Blackshape CEO Sales and Marketing said the company had been very prudent when selecting a local partner.
“Blackshape is finally coming to Australia,” he said. “After a hard and thorough due diligence process, Precision Light and Air has been appointed as Blackshape’s General Agent for Australia and New Zealand. Now we are ready to market our product in Australia at the top level."
Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus) approved tandem low-wing Prime earlier this year, clearing the way for the aircraft to be sold in Australia as a certified aircraft under CAO 95.55.
“We are proud to finally start the marketing of the top class aircraft in the world in its category,” said Nick Waugh, Director of Precision Light and Air.
"The first two aircraft will join Tooradin Flight School, Blackshape’s headquarters in Australia, by the end of 2016 and will be displayed at 2017 Avalon Air show, while two more will be coming next year."
The Prime is powered by a 100- or 115-hp Rotax, which gives the aircraft a potential top speed of 150 KTAS. Construction is mainly of pre-preg hot-melt carbon fibre.
