Cirrus Aircraft unveiled the second-generation version of their SF50 Vision jet earlier this month.
The new model brings with it an expanded flight envelope that include speed and range increases, and enables the Vision to cruise up to FL310 and gives access to Reduced Vertical Separation Minima (RVSM) airspace.
The Cirrus Aircraft story is one of relentless innovation,” said Pat Waddick, President, Innovation and Operations. “Much like the last twenty years of re-imagining the SR Series with constant improvements to performance, safety and comfort, the G2 Vision Jet is the culmination of that same spirit of innovation. This aircraft is yet another game-changer in personal aviation and it’s made possible by the world-class team we have at Cirrus Aircraft.”
Access to RVSM airspace has taken the jet's range out to 1200 nm and increases the top cruise speed to over 300 KTAS.
Garmin's Perspective Touch+ advanced flight deck features on the G2 Vision, with new hardware, faster processing speeds and greater screen resolution. Typically found on high-end business jets and commercial transport aircraft, Autothrottle is now available on G2. This technology integrates with the autopilot and can automatically adjust the aircraft’s speed for each phase of flight, reducing workload and giving the pilot more time to focus on other tasks.
Other new G2 features include 3D Synthetic Vision, SurfaceWatch, integrated crew alerting, datalink weather, active weather radar, ADS-B, satellite communications and system synoptics.
The original version of the SF50 was type certified in late 2016 after a 10-year development program and according to Cirrus, the company is approaching 100 airframes in service.
