Embraer Executive Jets this week announced a record backlog of orders, bolstered by a large commitment from a US fractional ownership company.

The Brazilian manufacturer has $US7.4 billion in outstanding orders, achieved partly through a deal to supply Flexjet with 182 new airframes over four years, starting next year.

Embraer says the figures show a 70% year-on-year growth in demand.

The announcement came after Embraer Executive Jets posted a Q4 2024 result of 44 airframes delivered, with the Phenom 300 front and centre with 19 aircraft shipped. The balance came from the mid-sized Praetor 500 and 600, and the smaller Phenom 100.

When combined with the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) results for the first three quarters of 2024, the Q4 figure brings the total yearly shipments for the Phenom 100/300 to 75, a 13% increase over 2023.

"It is important to highlight the progress observed in the company’s production leveling initiative in 2024," the company announcement said

"Management managed to reduce how deliveries were skewed towards Q4 and better distribute them throughout the quarters. In 2024, Q4 deliveries accounted for 34% of the yearly total while that number was 45% on average for the previous five years."

Over the 11-year period between 2013 and 2023, Embraer sold 793 Phenom 100/300 airframes. The only other model on the market for that entire period was the Cessna Mustang/M2, of which 413 were delivered.

However, Embraer is facing a challenge to its segment leadership from the Cirrus SF50 vision. Since the SF50 came on the market in 2017, Cirrus has delivered 511 aircraft, compared to 456 of the Embraer for the same period.
