Piper Aircraft announced this week that the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued the type certificate for the M700 Fury single-engined turbo-prop.
Type certification clears the path for Piper to deliver the first examples to customers.
"We are thrilled to announce the US certification of the Piper M700 Fury by the FAA just a month after its announcement," said John Calcagno, President and CEO of Piper Aircraft.
“And there’s more to come. The Fury is just the first step in a new generation of our M-Class product line, so watch this space, as Piper’s M-Class will be expanding both above and below what we currently offer today.”
Introduced to the aviation world in early February, the M700 is a development of the Piper PA46 M600/SLS with greater performance and capability.
Powered by a 700-shp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52 turbine swinging a five-blade Hartzell prop, the Fury has a top speed above 300 KTAS, making it the fastest single-engined Piper ever built. It is approved for operations up to 30,000 feet.
Piper believes further certification for Canada, Europe, the UK and Brazil will be completed in the second half of 2024, with customer deliveries in those regions before the end of the year.
