Polish company Flaris announced last week that they had begun to sell their LAR01 single-engined light jet on the back of successful testing.
The LAR01 is powered by a dorsal-mounted Williams FJ33 turbine putting out 1843 lbf of thrust, which gives the five-seat aircraft a top speed of 415 KTAS.
The first sales are believed to be to the United Arab Emirates for use in law enforcement or border patrols.
"Currently, Flaris is delivering their first airplanes to the United Arab Emirates," the company states. "In collaboration with its partner, the EDGE Group, the company is working on equipping the aircraft with artificial integration systems and satellite communication systems.
"These systems will enable the use of Flaris aircraft in unmanned patrol flights and prepare Flaris aircraft for collision-free formation flights in modern cargo transport applications."
Testing will continue in order for the aircraft to be certified in Europe, although the patrol and cargo versions will take precedence over the passenger versions.
The company has also adapted the design as a drone to be used in military operations.
Flaris took the general aviation world by surprise in 2013 when the radical design appeared at the Paris Airshow without the vast majority of the industry knowing about it beforehand.
