Perth-based sustainable aviation company FlyOnE announced today that it had signed a letter of intent to buy 30 Swiss-built Smartflyer SF1 electric aircraft.
The Smartflyer SF1–still under development–is a four-seat, fully-electric passenger and cargo aircraft with range extension options of up to 430 nm or five hours of endurance. It features an electric motor in the tail and a fuel cell mounted in the nose.
The announcement came after FlyOnE completed its first retail investment offer, which raised significant capital at a share price of $3.00, giving the company a market value of $57 million.
FlyOnE CEO Korum Ellis said the SF1 was a good electric option for Australian operators.
"The Smartflyer aircraft is uniquely suited to address Australia's geographical aviation challenges, while still offering the lowest impact energy sources for our sustainable future," he said.
"We're excited to bring this amazing aircraft to the APAC region to shape the future of air transport and aviation solutions for the growing low-altitude economy."
Ellis believes the 30 Smartflyer SF1s will be used for both commercial and private flights, integrating to FlyOnE's current Australian operations and servicing growing international segments of the business in the broader APAC region.
"We are excited to partner with FlyOnE, a company that shares our vision for a more sustainable aviation industry," said Smartflyer CEO Rolf Stuber.
"This collaboration will not only benefit our two companies, but also contribute to the global efforts towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable travel."
FlyOnE has established distribution for several electric and hybrid-electric aircraft including the Pipistrel range, Bye Aerospace E2 and Air ONE eVTOL.
