Regional NSW airline FlyPelican has signed an agreement with flight training organisation Inbound Aviation to create a new pilot cadetship program.
Based out of Newcastle Airport at Williamtown, FlyPelican operates 19-seat BAe Jetstream 32 twin turbo-props on RPT routes into and out of both Newcastle and Sydney.
FlyPelican Executive, Henry Murcott, said the cadetship would provide a pathway for students to go from ab initio training straight into FlyPelican.
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Inbound Aviation," he said. "This cadetship provides a unique opportunity taking cadets from zero flight experience to the right-hand seat of a high-performance multi-crew airline environment undertaking multi-faceted roles with the only local Newcastle based airline.”
FTO Inbound Aviation, which has facilities at both Essendon and Mangalore in Victoria, has been contracted to provide training services to the cadetship.
“Inbound Aviation is honored to be trusted with FlyPelican’s inaugural airline cadetship," said Managing Director Tom Gollan. "We believe strongly in supporting local aviation, and providing high quality training.
"We are excited to bring the next generation of pilots into the FlyPelican family. We look forward to building a long-lasting partnership with FlyPelican.”
The first cadets are expected to be taken on board in August this year.
FlyPelican operate RPT route from Newcastle to Canberra, Ballina-Byron and Sydney, and links Sydney with Mudgee and Cobar. On 14 July, FlyPelican will cease servicing Sydney-Bathurst because of poor load factors.
More information on the cadetship is on the FlyPelican website.
