A GoFundMe page for injured Paul Bennet Airshows pilot Glenn Collins has been well patronised by the general aviation community.
Collins was seriously injured at the Australian International Airshow late last month when the Wolf Pitts S1-11X he was flying crashed on the Friday evening.
Collins, who was flying as part of a four-ship Sky Aces formation aerobatic display, was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital, where he is recovering after several successful surgeries.
Paul Bennet Airshows launched the GoFundMe page to help pay for Collins' ongoing recovery because he was not covered by standard accident insurance in this case.
As of Thursday 24 April, the GoFundMe had reached 89% of a $55,000 target after 409 separate donations.
"On Friday, 28th March 2025, our teammate, Sky Aces pilot, and long-time friend Glenn Collins was injured in a serious aircraft accident at the Avalon Airshow," a statement from Paul Bennet Airshows reads.
"Glenn has since undergone several surgeries, and while the procedures have gone as planned, he remains in hospital facing a long recovery.
"Glenn has inspired thousands across Australia with his skill and passion for aviation – performing in historic warbirds and as part of the Sky Aces team for many years. Now, we’re asking our community to rally behind him.
"As Glenn is not a full-time employee and is not covered by standard accident insurance for these circumstances, we’ve launched a GoFundMe to help support his recovery journey.
"Funds raised will go directly toward his medical care, rehabilitation, and supporting his family during his recovery. Any unused funds will be donated to charity."
Donations for Collins' recovery can be made to the GoFundMe page.
