Executive jet manufacturer Gulfstream has successfully flown a G400 prototype for the first time.
The flight was completed on 16 August from Gulfstream's headquarters at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport in the US state of Georgia.
During the three-hour flight, the G400 reached a speed of Mach 0.85 and an altitude of 41,000 feet, burning a blend of jet fuel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
"The G400 showcases class-leading performance and efficiency with its combination of Gulfstream’s aerodynamic clean-wing design, advanced Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812GA engines and next-generation avionics," Gulfstream said.
"The aircraft can fly 4200 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 and is equipped with Gulfstream’s award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck and Predictive Landing Performance System to help improve flight safety and pilot situational awareness.
"The G400 also features the advanced high-speed Gulfstream-designed wing and winglet, introduced on the Gulfstream G500 and G600, that greatly enhance efficiency."
Gulfstream has designed the G400 as a mid-range 9-11 passenger corporate jet to slot into their product range between the G280 mid-size and G500 high-speed jets.
First deliveries to customers are expected in 2025.
