Moorabbin Airport Corporation (MAC) has announced its support of future leaders and careers in aviation, partnering with Aviation/Aerospace Australia (A/AA) to sponsor its student-focused Summit program for 2023.
These summits provide invaluable opportunities for young professionals to gain knowledge and insights for their future careers, and for the future of the aviation industry as a whole.
This year, MAC’s sponsorship enabled A/AA to access more students from a broad range of backgrounds, increasing student participation in both its Brisbane and Canberra summits, which exposed students to a broad range of presenters and key discussion topics including Diversity in Defence, Youth Inclusion, Space and Future Solutions.
A/AA’s 2023 summits presented an inspiring program of industry leaders, pioneers and changemakers with decades of collective experience across the international aviation and aerospace sectors. Attendees also participated in networking workshops at the events, where they had a chance to connect with the program's speakers, business leaders, educators and other young professionals building their careers in Australia’s aviation industry and beyond.
At the Brisbane Summit, MAC’s sponsorship enabled A/AA to host a group of Undergraduate Griffith University students, who then shared their learnings with fellow students in the Faculty of Aviation and the Griffith MATES internal mentoring program. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from pioneering aviators and participate in discussions focused on the impact of diversity in future solutions. Key speakers at the Brisbane summit included Deborah Lawrie, AM at Virgin Australia, and Alisa Doyle, Senior Strategy Manager at Boeing Defence Australia.
MAC’s Future Leaders sponsorship also supported A/AA in hosting a group of Cadets from the Australian Defence Force Academy at its Canberra Summit, providing a Cadet from the Army, Navy, and Air Force with a platform to participate in the event as an industry speaker. Cadets also had the opportunity to hear from senior leaders from industry and defence, discover deeper insights about entering the industry, and gain important connections to support the next steps in their career.
“Moorabbin Airport Corporation is delighted to show its continued support of A/AA’s student-focused programs and initiatives that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the sustainability of the industry. The attendee engagement and overall success of both summits indicate a strong and inclusive future for Australian aerospace and aviation, as bright young professionals prepare to make their mark in the industry,” said Moorabbin Airport Corporation CEO, Paul Ferguson.
MAC looks forward to its ongoing relationship with A/AA to support the awareness, interest and growth of careers in aviation for many years to come.
