Textron Aviation will expand its presence in Australia with a new facility to be built at Essendon Airport, the company announced yesterday.

The new 3343 m2 building will more than double Textron's current footprint at Essendon and is expected to enhance support and maintenance for Cessna, Beechcraft and Hawker aircraft in the region.

"Building this new facility to support the more than 1400 aircraft operating in the APAC region demonstrates our commitment to providing the strongest combination of factory-direct maintenance and service solutions available for our customers,” said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president, Global Customer Support.

“This investment will grow our capacity and help us to better assist customers with scheduled maintenance, modifications and aircraft-on-ground support.”

Textron's new facility will be built at Hangar 83 and include a parts storeroom and a more comfortable lounge for customers.

In addition, Premiair Aviation Maintenance, an Australian service centre bought by Textron Aviation in 2020, has changed its name to Textron Aviation Australia Pty Ltd. to fully integrate the Perth, Gold Coast and Melbourne facilities into Textron's global service network.

Construction is due to begin next month and Textron expects the new Essendon facility to be operation in early 2026.
