Australia's first Tecnam P2012 Traveller will make its public debut at the Brisbane Airshow this weekend.
The P2012 is a high-wing piston twin designed to replace legacy twins on charter and short-haul airline operations.
Local agent Hallmarc Aviation imported Traveller VH-VNV into Australia as a demonstration model, which the company has reported is generating substantial interest from local operators.
Hallmarc principal Michael Loccisano was part of a crew that flew VH-VNV from Capua, Italy, in a 79-hour marathon ferry flight through Crete, Saudi Arabia, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Broome, Alice Springs and finally to its new home at Essendon.
The route included 12-hour over water legs that were completed with the use of a bladder ferry tank installed in the cabin.
The P2012 is a fixed-gear twin powered by two 375-hp turbo-charged Lycoming engines turning four-blade propellers. It has a useful load of 1414 kg, maximum cruise of 194 KTAS and a range of 950 nm.
Customers will be able to inspect the Traveller at the Brisbane Airshow at Watts Bridge this weekend.
