The Victorian Aerobatic Championships 2024 concluded with spectacular results last weekend, showcasing the incredible skill and precision of aerobatic pilots from across the state and beyond. 

Held at Tocumwal Aerodrome, the event brought together pilots from all over, competing across multiple categories, delivering breathtaking aerial displays with the Hunter region represented in top positions.

  • Category Winners:
    • Sportsman Category: Sam Perceval took out 1st place with teammate Tim Geluk following up with 2nd place.  This was only the start for the guys from the Hunter Valley.
    • Intermediate: Training in the Hunter with Paul Bennet Airshows, Stephen Robinson demonstrated exceptional control and flair, securing the top spot again after taking gold at the recent Queensland event as well.
    • Advanced: In a fierce competition, at only 19 years old Jett Bennet outperformed the field with a bold and daring performance to take 1st prize with teammate Riley McDonald coming in a close 2nd place. These men are the future of aviation.
    • Unlimited: Performing at the highest level of competition, Paul Bennet executed stunning aerobatic manoeuvres in his Wolf Pitts Pro, earning the title of 1st place in the Unlimited Champion category followed closely in 2nd place by his off sider and Operations Manager of Paul Bennet Airshows Glenn Graham, in his Edge 540. Both men are Australia’s best, and this win only solidifies this even further.

Paul Bennet, Director of Paul Bennet Airshows said, "This year's competition was one of the best we've seen in recent years.The level of skill displayed by all pilots was truly outstanding. Congratulations to all our winners and participants."

The sport of aerobatic flying continues to grow each year, attracting more pilots and spectators to witness the best in aerobatic flying at these events. 

Plans are already underway for the Hunter team to continue to dominate the field in the 2025 event and beyond.
