Aviation refueler Viva Energy last Friday bought the family-owned SkyFuel Australia business, an indepedent supplier of aviation fuels and oils.
SkyFuel was a family-owned business for 28 years before selling to Viva. Viva will retain the services of General Manager Rob Mangan and allow SkyFuel to continue to operate as an independent operation with the brand remaining intact.
"Viva's ownership ensures SkyFuel can continue to grow and service our GA customers with an aviation-focused energy provider supporting us," Mangan said.
Viva Energy bought the assets of Shell Aviation in 2016 and owns and operates the Geelong refinery, which is Australia's only domestic avgas manufacturer.
As a consequence of the sale, all Air BP cards issued through SkyFuel will expire on 30 June 2023 regardless of the expiry date printed on the card. Air BP customers will need to apply for new cards.
Instead, Skyfuel customers will have access to the Viva Fuel2Sky card, which can be used to buy aviation fuel at seven major airports and 51 regional airports around Australia serviced by Viva Energy.
More information regarding the sale and future of SkyFuel is on the SkyFuel Australia website.
