AOPA Australia President Andrew Andersen has been elected as Regional Vice President for the International Council of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (IAOPA).
IAOPA has recently realigned its international regions to correspond with those of ICAO, with Andersen taking up his role in the Pacific Region.
During his three year term, Andersen will focus on principles of access and equity of airspace use for GA.
"IAOPA participated in the ICAO 12th Air Navigation Conference in November, and succeeded in including language in the conference report that urges national-level regulators to support these principles,” he said.
“We look to all ICAO member states in the region to detail how they will ensure that those principles are followed, and to coordinate and collaborate with GA representative organisations in their countries in the implementation of new navigation systems and procedures.”
IAOPA is a non-profit federation of 70 national GA associations that has represented GA internationally for over 50 years.
