Cessna Aircraft Company has reached a milestone by delivering its 2000th Caravan turboprop.

The 2000th Caravan, the rugged workhorse of the Cessna fleet, was delivered on September 15 to Caribbean-based charter operator Air St. Kitts-Nevis, who will use the aircraft as part of its DHL courier operation.

The carrier, which operates out of multiple bases in the Caribbean, will take delivery of a second new Caravan later this year. The two new Garmin G1000-equipped Grand Caravans will replace two older models in its fleet. Air St. Kitts-Nevis operates four Caravans on DHL routes throughout the Caribbean.

“The success of the Caravan in operation with Air St. Kitts-Nevis has been superb,” Cessna Worldwide Propeller Aircraft Sales vice president John Doman said. “Having the latest G1000 avionics and GFC700 autopilot technology on these new aircraft will make that operation even better.

“This marks not only our 2000th delivery, but it comes in our 25th anniversary year of Caravan production, making this occasion that much more special.”

The single-engine turboprop Caravan is certified in 100 countries and the fleet has amassed more than 13 million flight hours. It received FAA type certification in 1984 and marked its first customer delivery in 1985. For more on Cessna click here.
