Cirrus Aircraft has unveiled two new colour schemes and a new lighting package for their 2014 range.

The two new schemes, known as Carbon Appearance and Platinum appearance are an upgrade package that gives the aircraft a more striking look on the tarmac.

"There will no mistaking when a new 2014 Cirrus Aircraft is on the ramp as only Cirrus offers this innovative new mix of performance, safety and style," said Todd Simmons, Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Support.

"We take our design cues from so many places outside of aviation and then work carefully with our engineers and artists to bring them into the airplane in just the right way."

Also new for 2014 is the integrated LED lighting package that blends in smoothly with leading edge at the wingtips.

Called Cirrus Integrated LED Technology™, the system provides provides a range of functions including:

  • Ground illumination for night pre-flight walk-arounds
  • Tail surface illumination
  • Anti-Collision lights
  • Navigational position lights
  • Landing light assistance
  • 'Halo' accent lighting

Additionally, the flush-mount installation not only reduces drag, but also now adds both LED reliability and brightness. These lights can be activated using a key fob or with switches from inside the cockpit.

The 2014 Cirrus aircraft line-up also features new high-performance Beringer brakes that reduce weight and enhance performance and safety. Called Beringer Aero design, these brakes provide the same stopping power but with less mass and  with a smaller rotor that performs at a cooler overall operating temperature.

They also enable the use of tubeless tyres, reducing the risk of leaks and failures.

A 2014 Cirrus SR22 standard package is expected to be priced at $US481,000, with the upgraded paint schemes costing $US18,900.
