Flight Training Adelaide has announced it will purchase up to 26 Diamond DA40 CS aircraft from regional Diamond Aircraft rep Hawker Pacific.

The composite four-seat Diamond DA40 CS single engine aircraft are powered by the Lycoming IO-360-M1A Avgas engine and feature a Garmin G1000 glass cockpit. Hawker Pacific was awarded the contract following a head-to-head competition between other short-listed aircraft that culminated in a fly-off late last year.

The new DA 40CS aircraft will join Flight Training Adelaide’s existing fleet of 42 aircraft across five types, including seven DA42 L360 aircraft. Hawker Pacific expects to deliver the first four of eight scheduled 2012 deliveries to Flight Training Adelaide mid-year, with options for 18 additional aircraft scheduled for 2013 and 2014 delivery.

“Flight Training Adelaide selected the Diamond DA40 for its demanding aviation training program quite simply because they were identified as the best aircraft for the job,” Hawker Pacific’s Senior Vice President, Aircraft Sales & Flight Services Group, Tony Jones, said. “They are modern, well-equipped and represent a great training aircraft package.

“This is a milestone deal for Hawker Pacific and further entrenches the Diamond as the aircraft of choice for training schools both in the region and around the world.”

“The aim of Flight Training Adelaide is to provide our students with one of the world’s best training environments,” Flight Training Adelaide CEO Pine Pienaar added. “The overall performance and lifetime running costs made the DA40 the standout choice. We believe acquiring these aircraft will help us to continue to achieve this aim and are confident our students and instructors will appreciate the performance, safety and design features they offer.”
