Industry has until the end of today, Friday October 16, to contribute to a study to the state of the aviation workforce in Australia.

The Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC) is one of 11 industry skills councils funded by the Federal Government through the Department of Industry. It is chartered with driving the skills and workforce development agenda across the entire transport and logistics industry, including road, rail and air transport, warehousing, maritime, logistics and ports.

The Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development has contracted TLISC to identify the aviation industry’s workforce and skills needs, including industry perspectives on topics such as areas of identified skills shortages, emerging skills, factors affecting labour supply, the current training framework and skills training and the impact of training costs, including the outcomes of existing programs.

The Aviation Workforce Skills Study will build on the methodology used to develop TLISC’s annual Environmental Scan (E-Scan). It will draw on the extensive data collected by various government agencies on the aviation industry, as well on other publicly-available data, TLISC’s own research and industry submissions. Stakeholder consultations will be an integral part of the process.
