Some nostalgia-wrapped history this week with a film made in 1950 for the Department of Civil Aviation. It's an explainer for the people how civil aviation is connecting not only Australia to the rest of the world, but also locations within the country as well. Sunderlands, Dragons, Ansons, Super Connies, Tigers, DC3s and DC4s all feature, as do the very rudimentary air traffic control systems that were used to track aircraft and control airports in the post-war period. It seems regional aviation was just as important back then as it is today.
