This video is about a hang gliding incident, but on examination there are lessons here for aviators of any type. A hang glider pilot has a shave with disaster when his equipment let him down ... even though he had checked the component that failed. His analysis of what he did wrong is excellent and his willingness to own the mistake is to be commended. When any of use pre-flight the aircraft, do we genuinely check things or just give them a cursory glance, as this very lucky pilot must have done?
