Aspen Avionics this week launched the new, low-cost Evolution E5 EFIS.
The E5 is a non-TSO instrument that combines an attitude indicator and directional gyro into one unit, which can be installed under a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to replace the traditional vacuum-driven instruments.
Features on the E5 also include GPS steering, air data computer, attitude and heading reference system and a rechargable back-up battery.
According to Aspen, the E5 has a brighter display, higher reliability, more capability and increased processing speed.
"Like all Aspen displays, the Evolution E5 is configurable, upgradeable, and affordable," Aspen president and CEO John Uczekaj."The E5 can also be upgraded to a full TSO Evolution Pro 1000 flight display through an affordable upgrade path.
“Unlike other stand-alone systems, our versatile design and open architecture allow features to be easily configured to specific flight needs with the opportunity to add additional options and capability without unit replacement. Simply, it’s a smart investment for now and for the future.”
The Evolution E5 is expected to be available for delivery mid-2018, and has a price tag of $US4995.
