The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) today announced a scholarship program aimed at helping aviation Safety Managers increase their skills and knowledge base.
The program will provide three scholarships of $5000 each to go towards professional development.
CASA’s Director of Aviation Safety, Pip Spence, says the new scholarships will provide practical encouragement for people interested in a career in aviation safety.
"Safety managers play an important role in maintaining the level of safety that the travelling public, regulators and the industry have come to expect," Spence said in announcing the program.
"We encourage those who are committed to the development of a healthy aviation safety culture, who use their initiative, and display a high standard of aptitude and leadership to apply.
"As we continue to support the aviation community move past the crippling shutdown of the industry post COVID-19, we believe this is a great opportunity to help the successful individuals enhance their aviation safety expertise within their organisations."
To be eligible to apply for one of the scholarships, individuals must have a minimum of two years' experience within the aviation industry and must be working in a key safety-sensitive role or have been in one previously.
Applicants must also be in a relevant course during the scholarship period or show that they intend to study in that time.
