Cirrus Aircraft has made changes to the 2022 SR series that has resulted in greater efficiency and higher cruise speeds than previous models.
Announced mid January, the 2022 models have sleeker wings and tail surfaces and redesigned wheel spats, which the company says adds up to 9 knots to the cruise speeds. The ice panel transitions have been smoothed and the tolerances on the spats tightened, both of which have resulted in reduced drag.
“The model year 2022 G6 SR is refreshed to seamlessly sync with your life – taking you further, keeping you connected and distinguishing your style in the air and on the ramp," said Ivy McIver, Director of the SR Series Product Line.
"This latest update to the G6 embodies our passion for continued innovation and commitment to design. We are excited to continue introducing more people to personal aviation and empowering their Cirrus Life story.”
Over 8000 SR series aircraft have been built since the inception of the range in 1998, making it the most popular single-engined aircraft sold over the past 20 years.
“The new G6 SR Series is a testament to our devotion to constantly enhance both comfort and safety features across our product lines,” said Zean Nielsen, CEO of Cirrus Aircraft.
“In 2022, we are poised to continue as the market leader in personal aviation and streamline the flying experience with the G6 SR Series aircraft.”
The 2022 range also includes new colour schemes, keyless entry, enhancements to the interior, a redesigned cargo door, illuminated steps and the Cirrus IQ mobile app.
