Garmin International has released the striking D2 Bravo Titanium, a premium aviation GPS smartwatch that brings sophisticated connectivity to pilots and aviation enthusiasts.
Utilizing premium materials such as a hybrid titanium band and gunmetal bezel, sapphire lens and high-resolution color display, the D2 combines wearable GPS technology with a sleek form suitable for activities both inside and outside of the cockpit. The D2 features automated flight logging, Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAF) display and an aviation-tailored customisable watch face that even enables pilots to add their aircraft registration to the display.
The D2 Bravo Titanium incorporates a world-wide airport database and support for up to 18 languages. When paired with a compatible smartphone, pilots can read weather reports like METARs and TAFs in plain language, which are colour-coded to indicate VMC or IMC. There is also the option to create flight plans and includes an altimeter with an adjustable barometric setting and a compass with an HSI and moving map.
Dedicated Direct-to and Nearest buttons along the side of the bezel enable quick and easy navigation for situations when it's needed. Data input fields include Estimated Time Enroute (ETE), Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and more, so pilots can easily monitor the progress of their flight at a glance.
Alert capability includes a preset oxygen reminder based on barometric altitude when operating at or above 12,500 feet, serving as a valuable back-up cabin pressure monitor in pressurised aircraft, and altitude alerting also notifies pilots when they reach or leave a preselected altitude.
Additionally, D2 Bravo Titanium provides the option to set up supplementary vibrating alerts to serve as a reminder to perform time-sensitive operations such as switching fuel tanks in-flight.
In GPS mode, the battery has a 16-hour life, but up to two weeks in smartwatch mode or three weeks when used as a normal watch.
The D2 Bravo Titanium is expected to retail around US$899.00.
