The Federal Government has re-appointed Sir Angus Houston as the Chair of the Board of Airservices Australia for another 12 months.
Houston first took over the post in 2012 after the retirement from that role of David Forsyth.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said Houston brought extensive aviation experience to the role, ensuring Airservices future delivery of safe and efficient air traffic services.
“Airservices is moving to replace its air traffic management system as part of a major capital expenditure and investment program of more than $1 billion over the next five years, to enhance the safety, efficiency and capacity of the national network, and meet anticipated growth in the industry," Chester said.
“That is why having strong leadership will be essential in meeting the goals of Airservices Australia and why I am delighted to make this announcement."
Additionally, David Marchant and Tim Rothwell have been re-appointed to the Airservices board for a further two years to help the oversee the acquisition of the new OneSKY air traffic management system for both civil and defence air traffic.
“These re-appointments will also ensure valuable finance, safety and governance expertise is retained," Chester said.
