US kit manufacturer Van's Aircraft gave the world a sneak peak of their new RV-15 high-wing on Sunday.

Van's released video of the type undergoing Phase One testing, but has released no details of performance or availability, saying they preferred to get the design right before telling the world what they had.

The only details so far it that the type is an all-metal taildragger with a stick control, but a tricycle undercarriage is planned. The aircraft is being aimed mainly at the backcountry market.

"The RV-15 prototype is in the wild," the company has said. "It’s a high-wing airplane. Back-country mission capable. And (of course) Total Performance.

"We can’t tell you when. Yet. The way we work here is like this: We make changes and adjust until it’s just right. That’s our priority.

"All good things come to those who wait. Patience is a virtue. Rest assured that we will update you periodically ..."

After a string of successful low-wing kits including the RV-7 and RV-8, this is the first high-wing design the company has produced.

It is believed the RV-15 will be officially presented to the world at AirVenture 2022 at Oshkosh 25-31 July.
