Bankstown Airport Limited (BAL) will change all taxiway names at Bankstown from May 30 this year.
The changes are being made to fall in line with the Manual of Standards Part 139 and CASA and ICAO naming conventions.
As part of the change, 48 new Movement Area Guidance Signs will also be installed.
The Kilo taxiways running parallel with the runways will become taxiway Alpha, with the Lima taxiway on the far side becoming taxiway Bravo. The crossing taxiway Lima) will now be known as Charlie.
All taxiways at the airport will be renamed, not only the major ones.
The decision to make the changes follows consultation with the Bankstown Airport Safety Management System Committee and feedback from the industry, and will also enable BAL to meet regulatory requirements.
