Camden Master Plan approved
Sydney Metro Airport Camden has received approval from Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese for its new Camden Airport Master Plan.
Following consultation and submissions from the Camden community and directives from last year’s Aviation White Paper, minor changes in Camden’s Preliminary Draft Master Plan were needed before the Minister signed off on it.
These changes included:
- Commitment to establish a Camden Airport Consultative Committee (CACCF);
- Commitment to establish a Planning Coordination Committee (PCF) involving council and state government;
- Consideration to relevant provisions of the Camden Draft LEP 2009; and
- Removal of the following potential activities from the Camden Airport Support Zone: bulky goods retailing, child care facilities, community care facilities, hotels, motels, places of assembly, places of public worship, and warehouses.
Despite these changes, Sydney Metro Airport Camden CEO Colin Grove is happy with the Minister’s approval and is looking ahead to following through on the Master Plan’s intent.
“The management and Board of Camden Airport Limited welcomes the Minister’s approval of the Master Plan,” Grove said. “Our management team will commence the planning to implement the strategies contained in the Master Plan.
“The Airport has 50 business days to make the Master Plan publicly available via our website or purchase through our management office. The Airport will call for expressions of interest in the Camden Airport Consultative Committee (CACCF) in the coming months.”
The Camden Airport 2010 Environment Strategy, approved in early May and a companion document to the Master Plan, is also available on the Camden Airport website.
