US inventor Patrick Peebles discusses the radical design of his FanWing concept aircraft, which could revolutionise the LSA market.

The FanWing looks like the bastard child of a combine harvester and a helicopter cockpit, but university studies have concluded that it could lift 5732 pounds (2600kg) using only 100hp thanks to its incredible lift efficiency.

This footage was taken from a UAV event three years ago, when Peebles plans for the aircraft had only encompassed an unmanned aerial vehicle model. However, Peebles and his team have since expanded on those original plans and they are currently working on a two-place technology demonstrator that they hope to introduce to the LSA market, all things according to plan. They hope to fly the technology demonstrator publicly for the first time at the EAA's AirVenture Convention in Oshkosh in 2013. Click here to get the full story from the FanWing website.
