Tecnam has announced the launch of its P92 Eaglet LY, the fifth generation model in the long-serving Tecnam P92 Eaglet range.
The Italian manufacturer will publicly unveil the new Eaglet this week at the Aero 2011 airshow in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
The all metal, two-seat, single strut braced high-wing Tecnam P92 Eaglet LY incorporates both a new engine from Lycoming, the ‘YO-233-B2A’, and significant improvements to its fuselage.
The new engine, which boasts a TBO of 2400 hours and provides 115 hp at 2800rpm, enables the next-gen P92 Eagle to climb at 1200 feet per minute and cruise at 118 knots with 75 per cent power, with a fuel consumption of 5.3 gal/h in economy cruise.
The new P92 Eaglet’s fuselage has also been modified in its forward section, allowing for an increase in cabin width, larger doors for easier access and a wider baggage compartment, as well as the addition of a new vain provided with an external door which can be useful for on-board equipment storage.
The aircraft’s wing is based on the well known NACA63A airfoil while the single-slot flaps, extending along much of the wing span, allow low stall speeds and aid in take-off and landing performance.
“This fifth generation P92 Eaglet builds on our commitment to continue to develop outstanding, stylish, innovative and affordable aeroplanes,” Tecnam’s Managing Director Paolo Pascale said. “For the Tecnam team, designing and building aeroplanes isn’t just a job, it’s an extension of our passion for flying.”
“With its spacious interior, generous 20kgs of luggage space coupled with superb visibility, the Tecnam P92 Eaglet’s are very enjoyable aeroplanes to fly cross country and have also proved themselves to be robust trainers.”
