US-based sustainable flight company Electra has produced a prototype of their hybrid STOL aircraft and is running it through a barrage of tests. This aircraft uses blown-lift technology to achieve a take-off distance of just 300 feet with a ground roll of just 150 feet. Powered by eight electric motors installed in the leading edge of the wing, the finished product is expected to cruise at around 173 KTAS and carry up to nine passengers. And there is something so very logical in this design; it looks right, and you know what they say about aeroplanes that look right!
