In January 1992, at the height of the Balkans war, five Croatian airmen died when their Antonov AN-2 crashed near the village of Simci, south east of Split. Thirty-three years later, five planes from the local aviation community banded together for a flying tribute to those killed. The aircraft involved are a U206B, F172H, Piper Warrior, Bellanca Scout and Cvjetkovic CA-65 SkyFly. One plane for each life lost.
